To achieve its mission, the Recreation and Tourism Management Program has identified the following goals:
  • Identifying student competencies and learning outcomes that would align the Program’s curricular offerings with the skills-set required to become professional recreation and tourism leaders.
  • Implementing appropriate student learning assessment tools and techniques to evaluate and direct the progressive development of student competencies.
  • Educating students about the role of tourism and recreation in their lives in order to enhance life’s overall quality for them and the communities in which they live.
  • Nurturing future recreation and tourism professionals to effectively manage services for all populations in a comprehensive manner through public, private, and non-profit agencies, organizations and businesses.
  • Incorporating information and communication technology competencies within the curriculum to enhance students’ communication and evaluation skills in relation to the delivery of tourism and recreation services
  • Creating and delivering relevant recreation and tourism curriculum with substantial opportunities for experiential learning (universal design) and explication that is future oriented.
