Camp Able at Coronado: A Waterfront Camp for Children with Disabilities

A Well-Trained, Thoughtful Staff...
The administrative staff for Camp Able are volunteer faculty from SDSU, permitting all the funds raised to go directly to providing services for disabled children. Our 19 full-time paid staff work the ten week summer program to ensure campers get the type of program that leads to increased confidence and self-esteem, skill development, awareness of personal abilities, and fun in a safe environment. Over 100 volunteers p,brrovide ongoing support for the paid staff at the camp and contribute greatly to the success of the children's overall experience.

What Campers Say...
“At Camp Able nobody looks at me as the kid in the wheelchair... they just look at me as another camper having fun!” “I have been coming to Camp Able for a long time and it's the most fun I have all year long!”

Camp Able at Coronado Gala...
Camp Able at Coronado operates because of the generosity and commitment of individuals, companies, corporations, organizations and foundations who so willingly give monetary and in-kind donations to the camp. The Camp Able at Coronado Gala, a black tie dinner held in May at Loews Coronado Bay Resort, is the major fundraising vehicle to generate the nearly $100,000 needed annually to support the camp's operation.

Support Camp Able...
The Camp Able at Coronado Gala Committee consists of interested citizens from Coronado and the greater San Diego area who believe that every child, regardless of his/her ability, should be afforded the fundamental right to happiness and personal growth through recreation activities. These individuals, through their donation of time and money, have provided the leadership to ensure that Camp Able at Coronado will continue to serve disabled children into the 21st century.
