The Recreation Student Association (RSA) is a recognized on campus student run organization that is comprised of Recreation majors and those interested in recreation. The club was established to encourage fellow Recreation majors to get acquainted and connect with one another and professionals working in the field. The RSA organizes and encourages members to participate in various community service events and fundraisers. Last year the RSA took part in the following activities:
- Attended the California Parks and Recreation Society Conference.
- Participated in Earth Day at Doheny State Beach with CSU Long Beach's Recreation Club to plant trees.
- Overnight camping trip at San Mateo State Park with CSU Long Beach's Recreation Club.
- Took part in the San Diego Coastkeeper's beach clean up at Coronado State Beach.
- Worked with the Sierra Club for the Florida Canyon Restoration Project in Balboa Park.
- Sold tickets to the San Diego Gulls ice hockey game, which raised $600 for the RSA.
- Hosted a fundraiser at Woodstock's Pizza Parlor.
This year the RSA will hold weekly meetings to discuss ideas, inform members of upcoming events and become acquainted with professionals working in the different fields of Recreation. RSA is looking for guest speakers to come and speak about jobs in the field of Recreation. 2006-2007 plans to be another exciting year filled with FUN, FUN and more FUN!!! Come and be apart of the Recreation Student Association.
